Mike Kelley’s photograph “Wake Turbulence” is a feast for the eyes, especially for aviation enthusiasts. Imagine the buzz of Los Angeles International Airport captured in a single frame. Kelley spent a dedicated eight hours snapping pictures of airplanes arriving and departing, then skillfully edited and merged them into an illusion of a bustling runway.
Just a side note, Wake turbulence, the phenomenon the image is named after, refers to the invisible swirls of air left behind by a plane, something pilots must navigate daily. Kelley’s image puts a beautiful spin on what’s usually an invisible aspect of flying. How cool is that?
