Reba McEntire is one of the most successful country music artists. She’s been dubbed the “queen” of the music genre because of the chart-topping hits she produced, records sold, and awards she received. Yet, not many probably know that the singer once played basketball, ran track, and trained to become a professional barrel racer.
Of course, those all happened when McEntire was in high school. That was also when the country star was getting attention for her singing skills. After being discovered by Red Steagall at a rodeo event, the singer was signed by PolyGram/Mercury Records in 1975. Many years after her first breakout album ‘My Kind of Country’ was released in 1984, McEntire’s star continues to shine.
